It looks like I will be
pealing peaches a lot this next week. Chuck's tree is so loaded the
limbs are breaking. I plan to freeze as many as I can make room for
in the freezer, and can the rest in jars. It's a lot of hard work,
and I had sworn off of any more canning but those peaches are so
good. They are much better than the ones you buy in the can. Peach
cobbler is my favorite fruit pie. I will tackle the job starting
tomorrow. I have been eating fresh peaches right off the tree for two
weeks. I just must save as many as I can. It took me a week off and
on to get an apples tree staked for Chuck. The ground was so hard
till I had to keep pouring water in the hole before I could dig
deeper. I finally got the hole deep enough, and drove the metal stake
in the ground. I let it settle for a few days, and today I
successfully got the little apple tree pulled back to where it was
almost straight and tied it to the stake. Before it's trunk was
almost touching the ground. Chuck planted it crocked a few years ago,
and never staked it up. It took every brain cell I have to figure out
how to straighten that bending tree up. Then it took all my muscle
strength to follow through with my idea, It worked just fine, My son,
Chuck, was even excited about the success. He does not have strength
to help because of a bad lung problem, but he still likes to see his
fruit trees bearing fruit each year.
I had a call today from a friend who moved to Oklahoma from Perryton several years ago. She had rented a house here and was in the process of moving back, but the house was found to belong to some drug dealers so she declined to take it. She wanted me to be on the look out for another one, so I now have another job to keep me busy. She is a good friend, and I want so much to help her find a place. Friends like her are rare, and only God can make them available for you. She and I can share the most secretive parts of our life, and feel comfortable with it. I am excited, and anxious to get her moved back. She will be a blessing to any church she decides to attend.
God Bless
