"My Sunshine Sunday"

At 7:00 a.m.this morning I woke up to see this light in the Eastern horizon. 3-4-2018 Perryton, TX
10 minutes later the view was this. Hoe Great is our God! 3-4-2018 Perryton, TX

This Sunday morning I jumped out of bed early to have my usual time of drinking coffee, and getting my brains to working before getting ready for church. I was overwhelmed at this gorgeous sun just coming up in the eastern horizon. I grabbed my camera, and shot this lovely sight of God’s gracious artwork. I have taken many pictures of the sunrise, sunset, and everything else in between, but none of them are alike. They all seem to have a different message to offer. These sky scenes change so quickly I have to hurry each time I see a perfect one, and want a picture. I made these two shots just ten minutes a part, and the beautiful red back grown had already changed to yellow tones. My day was started with an awesome, happy, and exciting feeling without anything else having to happen. I had three and one-half hours left before church, so I ate breakfast, and soaked in a tub of bubble bath for an extra long time. I then finished a pot of coffee before dressing for church. I felt like a person of pleasure, and leisure. I tried to remain positive during church, but the atmosphere there was not the same as where I had just left. I think my home gets sweeter every day. Yet I know it is necessary that I continue to get out, and enjoy the wonderful people God has put in my life.

After lunch I took a short nap, then decided to write my daily blog. Sundays have always been special to me, but since losing my husband they have been difficult to live through. I anxiously wait for Monday morning to get here. The rest of the week seems to fly by. I never know what I’m going to do through out the week because I change my mind so much. I hardly will commit myself to a task because I worry about having to go through with the promise. I love the idea of freedom, and independence. That is the best part about being retired. I have become a dear friend of procrastinate. She spends a lot of time with me. However, sometimes I run her off, and work like crazy. I have always enjoyed competing. All my childhood life I was taught to do my very best. To this day I believe God wants us to do our best. When I do accept a job of responsibility, I plan to do my best whatever it takes. I don’t accept defeat easy so look out when you see me going against your plan. That is if I am chosen to be the competitor. I am at this time involved with a situation that requires great faith, and a lot of wisdom. When this matter is over I will let you know if I was part of the success, or part of the defeat. My position is one that is used in secret mostly, although I do not hide my preference. Hang in with me.

"Coming Back To Life"

For some reason my attention was drawn to this old mansion south of Perryton, TX My painting from 4-26-2015..... 3-3-2018 Perryton, TX
Elk that were moved in after i painted the picture. 3-3-2018 Perryton, TX

There is something about this old mansion that keeps calling me to do some research on it. I painted this picture in April of 2015. It is located about eight miles southeast of Perryton. Most of this old house in hidden by a cliff that is several feet deep. The old house was moved to that site by the owner of the land, but I haven’t found out much information about it yet. I know it was not a far transfer, but that’s about all I know at this time. Some Elk was moved to this pasture after I painted the picture. The picture of the elk was taken in October of 2017. You can see a pumping oil well near the road of this old mansion. This place holds something interesting that I need to find out about. I’m going to make it my priority very soon. I do know the owner of this property, but he is hard to catch since he also lives in another state. I have tried a couple of times. I’m interested as to how this large house was moved to a mountainous location, so to speak. It may not be proper to call them mountains, but they sure reach high up from the ground. To say the least this was not a level moving job. I think I might like to live in that place, but I don’t think I could live with the rattlesnakes that are thick in that area. The mother-in-law of the owner of the place did live in a mobile home there till she died a few years ago. I personally knew her, but at that time I was not interested in the place.

This county, (Ochiltree) is rich with gas and oil, and a great part of it is used for wheat farming. It also has thousands of acres of ranch land. Many hills, and small mountains are formed all over the county, and goes even beyond to other surrounding counties. This has been my home for 62 years. I have watched Perryton grow from a few houses to a whopping oasis. A politician in this county is like a duck with no pond. But some of us are pouring water like crazy to make a huge floating place for a great, future State Representative. Richard Beyea is that duck who will quack every time someone tries to run him off. It is time for Perryton to shine from the heavens of Glory. Let’s do it, and be proud of who we are. Everyone who hasn’t voted early, be sure to go Tuesday, March 6, and vote for Richard Beyea for House District 88 State Representative. If you don’t live in this district, but know someone who does, call them, and ask them to vote for him. He will speak up for all of us in Austin, Texas, which by-the- way has turned into the biggest Sanctuary city in Texas. We got a good chance of changing that with the help of Richard Beyea.

"Know Your True Friends"

A shot of friendship is better than a shot of penicillium. 3-2-2018 Perryton, TX

Times will come when your closest friends will frown on you if you don’t agree with everything they want you to. Politics always brings out the worst in people who already have a bad attitude. I can honestly say I will not turn against any of my friends regardless of how much they disagree with me on my opinions, but I will campaign for the person that I think is best for the job. I posted a picture of myself, and a good friend, Ladonna Gatlin, on my blog this morning. She is not someone whom I personally visit with regularly because she is a busy speaker for Christian groups seeking great talent. Here is what she has to say about herself.

Ladonna Gatlin- defies conventional wisdom that says a performer must “pick a lane” and be only one thing…a speaker a singer  a concert artist a songwriter a humorist an author an entertainer “why in the world would I pick only one, when I’m all of those things? I’m a woman (I’m 63...get over it) a wife (married 42 years to the same man!) a grandmother (7 of ‘em and mine are CUTER than yours!) a daughter (Mom and Dad raised me right!) a sister (lets hear it for Gatlin Boys!) a friend ( hopefully a good friend!) Sometimes I’m even a pain! But I bring ALL of that with me every time I step onto the stage.

Ladonna Gatlin CSP CPAE. Speaking of the stage, “Ladonna was born on one.”

I unloaded this morning to another good friend about my dislike from some of those whom I angered when I invited my candidate to a luncheon that they always attend. I was unable to pull up this friend’s  picture, (beings I have so many,) so I put Ladonna Gatlin, and myself on instead. The friend I did visit with told me to never let disagreement come between me and a friend. She said everyone has to deal with disagreeable people sometimes. Life she said, can never be that perfect for anyone, although it would be nice. I will continue to speak my preference of candidates, no matter who I may anger. I will also work for them to get elected. If my friendship doesn’t mean any more to them than that, then I don’t consider them a true friend anyway. I didn’t disown my children because we didn’t agree, but after all they were just children. After they grew up they changed their opinion  to agree with mine most of the time. When they don’t I still love, and support them.

I must say that the times we’re living in now are most troublesome, and I believe everyone should take some responsibility for improving the anger, and disrespect that has flooded our nation. That cannot be accomplished by adding more anger, and disrespect.  We see too much fighting on television already. Let us not add to it in our own vicinity. Let God be the Judge. He will always be fair.

"I'm Interested In This Birdhouse"

Birdhouse near the ground. 3-1-2018 Perryton, TX

I’m puzzled as to why my elderly neighbors hung this neat little birdhouse in a small tree near the ground. It’s possible that they being in their nineties, wanted to keep tabs on the eggs without having to climb upon something. These neighbors are a pleasure to live next-door to. Their house, garage, and yard are always immaculate. They express their love for nature in so many ways. No wonder they have lived so long. They have loved every day of their life. They have several family members who visit them daily. How lucky they are for that blessing. I have but one son who lives closer to me than 300 miles. I am thankful for my many friends who live all around me.

It has been a beautiful day. I washed my car, but didn’t get much else done. I plan to work in the yard tomorrow if it’s still nice out. I noticed an early blooming cherry tree in my yard today was strutting it’s stuff. Just hope we don’t have a late freeze. I will be putting fertilize on my yards next week. I am so ready for summer. I expect that every day now I will see growth of some kind in my yard. Tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths are breaking the ground already. A rabbit jumped up and ran today finding the hole in the fence where she escapes when scared. I think she has built a nest to raise her little ones later on. Since the mother rabbits have lost their babies to the lawn mower, they have since moved their nest to the asparagus bed, and flower garden. They do like to eat some of my early, tender plants, and I am unhappy with them for that.

A few of us oldies invited our candidate to the Citizen’s Center yesterday. It was a nice meeting, and a large crowd attended. I have helped my candidate campaign for years. I feel like I owe it to my state, and community. I’m always reminded of the famous quote by Edmund Burke, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” I always feel good after the election even if my candidate didn’t win. I am a good loser, even if I worked hard to help them. I hate it when people act like children if they lose, or even if they think they might lose. What a poor excuse for a Christian citizen of the United States. I’m sorry, but I can’t be that kind of a person. I have too much fear of my Heavenly Father to treat someone bad. I can disagree, and still have true love in my heart for the winner. However, if that person who wants to be angry at me for my belief in politics will just have to answer for their own sin. I wish them well whether they win or lose.
