"Workers Needed"
How can I let them waste when so many are going hungry? 8-7-2017 Perryton, TX
One last call to can the apples. They make such good pies. But my poor back, says don’t do it. When they are all gone I will regret not have freezing some of those delicious apples. As of now my only plan for keeping any of the apples is the few it will take for me to make an apple pie for church dinner next Sunday. Our pastor’s favorite pie is apple. I must treat him special this Sunday. I am so tired of picking apples off the ground and hauling to the dumpster.
I have to be reminded of this scripture Matthew 9: 37, The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few, every time I look around and see all the little children that are not being fed the Word of God. Where are the workers? And why aren’t they working? Why are there few laborers? These are questions that most people can’t answer. I believe some of our churches are like we Americans, are seeing now in our highest government setting. Too hypocritical. Trying to cover up their own sins. While the church still claims that Jesus is the head, they do not really want that taught to the children. There are too many who don’t believe in Jesus, and the church wants to keep everybody happy. A better description is this. The church still believes Jesus is the head, but they believe He allows every kind of sin now, that He didn’t use to. There is no sin, most say, that Jesus won’t allow. Then what can we teach our children if we can’t them the things the bible says is sin? While Jesus forgave sin, He also condemned it.
When the scribes and Pharisees brought a woman to Jesus who they had caught in the act of adultery they said to Jesus. Moses law commanded us that such should be stoned, but what sayest thou? Jesus hesitated to answer them. They kept asking Jesus the question. Finally Jesus lifted His head and said, “ He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one till there were none left. When Jesus lifted up His head He asked, “woman where are thine accusers? Has no man condemned thee? She said, “no man, Lord.” “Neither do I condemn thee, go and sin no more.” John 8.
Jesus did not say the woman was guiltless. He forgave her, and demanded that she sin no more. Jesus still forgives sin in our lives today, but He also still demands us to sin no more. It is the church’s duty to teach the Word of God from the cradle up. Not the liberalism that so many of our churches are teaching today. I always need to make clear that those who want to condemn sin in the harshest way, are those who need to clear out of the house of God one by one. They are the unforgiven ones who are still sinning.

"I Wish I Would Have Made Wine"
The last bunch of grapes. Wish I would have made wine. 8-6-2017 Perryton, TX
I had thought all the grapes were gone but I found this one last bunch this morning. I let the birds have them all because I didn’t want to make jelly. When I saw this nice cluster of plump grapes this morning I though why didn’t I make wine. I probably thought of that from my bible reading lately that speaks so much of vineyards and wine presses. It seems like in bible times wine was a blessed drink from God. Being raised in the strict, Christian home that I was, I would never have made wine from my grapes. Although my grandfather who always lived near us, made wine often. I know how he did it, and I could also have gotten a recipe off the internet if I had wanted to make wine. I probably have not drank a quart of wine in my entire life. When I lost my husband four and one-half years ago, several people encouraged me to drink a little wine for relaxation. I knew it was a sure thing for that purpose, but I was afraid of addition, so I totally refused. I would always think of the scripture that said, “tarry not long at the wine.” How long is too long? My father always said there would not be an alcoholic in the world today if they had not taken that first drink. He also told us children not to go near the water till we learned to swim. My dad did a perfect job in putting the fear in us about these two things. I am not an alcohol drinker, nor neither can I swim. Another strict demand he gave us was, never take a pill that the doctor didn’t give you. Yes, my dad was an ordained Baptist minister, but he never held that position in any one church. He only filled in when asked. He was a farmer.
Once I was grown and married I learned that everyone has to find their own way to Jesus. I felt like a little bird must feel when they are thrown out of the nest to fly or die. I learned to fly , and not on my father’s wings. I discarded a lot of my dad’s strict beliefs, and trusted the Holy Spirit to teach me what I really needed to know. To this day I am still learning the word of God. I do have to say though, my early spiritual teaching is the reason I am free today to choose my own belief. I stayed in the nest till I was well feathered. My mother was a person of submission to her husband. She did not force her belief on us children, because she felt that was our dad’s place, but neither did she live the strict life he lived. Guess what? When I landed on the ground after leaving the nest my mother was the one I called, and not my dad. She is the one that helped teach me how to fly. I never followed in my mother’s foot steps, nor my dad’s either. I followed in the footsteps of Jesus.

"The Need Was Simple"
Little 5th grader boy stopped in front of my house today. I did not know him, but I do now. 8-5-2017 Perryton, TX
I did one of my good deeds for today, without a doubt. I stepped out on my front porch to see a little boy sitting on the curb with his head down. His bicycle was lying beside him. I waited for a few minutes thinking he would ride off, but he just kept sitting there. I knew he wasn’t from my neighborhood. The child looked around at me, but he still didn’t get up. I thought he might have crashed and was hurt. I walked over to him and asked if he was hurt. He just nodded his head no, but still kept sitting there. I moved closer to him and started a conversation. I asked him where he lived, and he pointed toward the east, but it didn’t tell me much. I said it’s a windy day, isn’t it. He just kept sitting with his head down. When I asked him his name I didn’t recognize it as someone I knew. Then he told me his grandmother’s name and I knew her well. I told him how long I had known his grandmother, but I didn’t personally know the boy’s mother. He began to brighten up, and started talking back. I asked him if he was getting ready to start to school, he said yes. Then I asked him what grade he would be in, he told me the fifth. I said to him, “man you are nearly half way through already.” He smiled at me, and asked me my name. I told him, and said tell your grandmother hello for me. He said o k and I turned to walk away. He hesitated to ride off till I was nearly to my front porch. I was made to realize that the little guy needed someone to talk to him. I believe this was a case for my attention today. “Thank you Lord.” Of course this little guy will be on my prayer list tonight. I am aware of the hardship this family has endured over the years. A good family, but many problems. I trust I might have served a purpose in this child’s life today.
How many times have we been guilty of ignoring a situation that God has appointed us to take care of? Too many I am sure. One time is too many. We are on this earth for a reason other than to think only of our‘s, and ourselves. I want so much to be a faithful servant to my Lord. I can live with criticism, and rejection from earthlings, but I must feel accepted by God. I have never doubted that fact since my annunciation from Jesus. No one has ever been able to take that from me. Every day I live is another day lived for God. I would not have it any other way. That also means another day of offering myself for encouragement to others. I would love to be a Mary Magdalene who was the first to discover the empty tomb of Jesus. She loved Him so much that she visited His tomb daily. I have always heard nourished love never dies, but unnourished love always dies. May my love for Jesus be shown Him twenty-four-seven.
